Where Are the Sheep?

Several ranchers in our region trail their sheep north into the mountains for summer grazing and then south in the Fall. For the best information about the anticipated locations of bands of sheep in the Wood River Valley, visit the Blaine County Recreation District’s Summer Trailink Site. As bands of sheep enter the Valley, the site’s maps are updated with sheep symbols indicating the locations of the various bands. Click on the symbols to reveal additional information about a particular band, including its expected movements. You can also visit the site’s Trail Alerts section, where agency sheep reports are made available. (For additional information email Ashley Knox, BCRD Trail Coordinator at aknox@bcrd.org or call the BCRD at 208.578.2273.)

*Should you encounter what seems to be a stray sheep, please contact the Ketchum Ranger District Office at 208.622.0090 or 208.622.5371
