September 2021 Festival COVID Update

The Board of Directors of the Trailing of the Sheep Festival is planning for an enjoyable 2021 event in the Wood River Valley of Idaho. Once again, we will be trailing sheep from summer mountain ranges north of the Valley through Ketchum’s Main Street and south to winter desert country. Our sheep families have been doing this for over 150 years. It is how we can best take care of our animals and the land. We celebrate this migration every year and welcome you to join us in October for the 25th anniversary of the Festival.

We acknowledge that the Covid-19 virus has caused many changes in our lives.  The Festival Board, staff and advisors have worked to make our events safe, comfortable and memorable in the following ways:

  1. As always, the Festival’s largest events are held in large open spaces. Personal social distancing is possible throughout.
  2. Festival events at venues without strict protocols in place that have been held indoors in the past will be held outside including the Sheep Ranching Q&A and Sheepherding Stories.
  3. We will honor the protocols already in place at all of our venues throughout the Valley.
  4. We will follow current CDC guidelines, protocols and mandates regarding face masks, hand sanitizing and encourage social distancing at all of our venues.
  5. In advance of the event, we highly recommend Covid-19 vaccinations for all of our guests and visitors, and Festival representatives are prepared to recommend Wood River Valley vaccination sites as requested.

Tickets are on sale NOW and all activities requiring a ticket can be found in the EVENTS drop-down tab.

We look forward to welcoming you to the October Festival for our 25th Anniversary celebration!

FESTIVAL NOTE: The Board of Directors of the Trailing of the Sheep Festival is optimistically planning for a safe and enjoyable 2021 Festival. To this end, we will follow current CDC guidelines with regards to wearing masks, hand sanitizing and social distancing while encouraging vaccinations from the Covid-19 virus. Festival representatives are also prepared to recommend Wood River Valley vaccination sites as requested. We will also follow the protocols and mandates at each of our participating venues and all involved locations. Attending Festival events as a vaccinated attendee, and choosing to wear masks and social distance is each individual patron’s choice to make for personal health and safety. We look forward to welcoming you to the October Festival!
